The Brickwork Lizards at the Slaughtered Lamb
Well... it's concert time again... this time we traipsed as far as North London to enjoy the Brickwork Lizards launching their fine new album at the Slaughtered Lamb.
Musically very skilful and diverse, the contrasting vocals were used well and sounded brilliant.
The Slaughtered Lamb was a perfect venue for the Brickword Lizards. Dark, cavernous, and atmospheric.
Thank you Lambykins, yes I think I have the neon sign permanently imprinted upon my brain now.
...and Goodnight!
So how to describe the Brickwork Lizards music? Not easy! Here's my best go... an eclectic mix of Arabian and north african influences, with a smoky early 20th century Americana, a side of delicious spaghetti-western trumpet and topped off with a hip-hop rapper channelling Tom Waits. Oh... and pork-pie hats! See I told you - not easy!
Next time I think they need to consider a bigger stage!
