Rainy Day Decision
I’m sitting down here, watching the rain polish the road
Patterns in the dirt show where the water has flowed
But Marie she is wondering when are we to get old
Patterns in the dirt show where the water has flowed
But Marie she is wondering when are we to get old
It is easy to be green, stay for as long as you can
change your mind but at some point you'll have to land
Here or Down there, over Under or up
An idiot’s choice that can only corrupt
The radio’s talking at me, but it’s shedding no light
The sky is grey and it’s eerily quiet
And the rain keeps people inside, hiding from sight
Charlie says he wants the best for me
But he would say that anyway
Not spoken for months he’ll fly in and float away
Happiest when serving up a self-centred word play
It’s quarter to three and light’s starting to fade
Judy quietly starts thinking about preparing the tea
and Nick at 60 settles down with a beer
And neither of them have any idea
With a head full of missions I’m not ready to lead
Time’s on my side but time’s not what I need
Flowing like rain these thoughts are making me bleed
I put my head in my hands,
Mumbling some words that sound grand
Just to see if and where they will land
Driving me home or into quicksand?
Next time you see me I’ll be turning up tanned
On the front page of a newsstand.
