Pompeii

Pompeii was a Roman city which was suddenly and completely destroyed in AD79 by an eruption from the nearby volcano Vesuvius.  As such it is a incredible time capsule of how Romans lived 2000 years ago.

Beautiful bronzes.

There were some amazing entrances to villas.  It is hard to believe these are 2000 years old!

Many of the arches were still standing.

Walking around the street gave a real echo of how people would have lived at that time.

...to the town's impressive amphitheatre.  And yes it's true.  On the stage I could talk...

...and in the back seat Maria could clearly hear me!  Wow!
