The Pantheon
One of the most amazing buildings, if not the most amazing building I have ever been into. It is very hard to believe it has been standing for 2000 years.
You can clearly see where everyone else has stolen their architectural ideas from!
The roof is a perfect half sphere with an open space called an Oculus at the top. It was raining when we were there and the rain was softly falling into the centre of the building. Beautiful.
The painters Raphael and Annibale Carracci, composer Arcangelo Corelli and architect Baldassare Peruzzi are buried in the Pantheon. Also buried there are two kings of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I.
